Almost The End of 2009

HOLIDAY WRAP-UP: Only a few more days and we ring out the old and bring in the new…not sure that’s how that goes but you get the picture.  Our Christmas holiday was wonderful, full of family, great food, and a rousing game of dominoes…it was just about perfect.  I hope you were surrounded with family and received everything you wanted.

Jim and I bought a Kindle for our gift.  If you are not familiar with this wonderful piece of technology, check it out on Amazon.com.  It is an e-book that is about the size of a hard-back book…the screen is very easy on the eyes; it is wireless so you can down-load books in seconds; it has a built-in dictionary as well as a key pad for typing; you can also down-load newspapers, magazines, and blogs; it also has the capability of reading to you.  All reading material is available to browse on your Kindle and purchases are made directly from your Kindle.  One of the nicest features, to me, is that you will not have books lying around everywhere; your reader keeps the books until you delete them and it will hold 1500 books.   I have only found one thing wrong with it…Jim and I will probably end up fighting over it…”I want to read, no, I want to read”…we may have to buy a 2nd one.

SHOP SALE: I am having an END OF THE YEAR SALE in my etsy shop.  Everything, except custom orders, will be discounted by 25%.  Once purchase has been made, I can send an adjusted invoice or refund the discount through PayPal.  I am not sure how long I will run the sale but I would like to decrease my inventory before the end of the year.  I am also working on lots of new items so stay tuned.

Have a great week!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

First, I have to share with you what I got for Christmas…the best present a girl could ask for…my parents arrived Tuesday and will be here for two weeks.

I would like to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all my wonderful customers and the e-friends I have made this past year…without your love and support, I would not be able to continue doing something that I love so much.  THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU.

I wish you and your families a Merry, Merry Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful New Year.

Vet Visit and New Work

Over the hills and through the woods, to the vet we’ll  go…have you ever had to load a 400 pound animal for a visit to the vet?  We haven’t either but we did have to take our 4 dogs – almost 400 pounds – to the vet for their routine vaccinations and rabies shot. Having gone through rabies shots ourselves last summer, that’s a vaccination we don’t want the dogs to miss.

This was not a trip we looked forward to…first of all, the dogs do not like to go to the vet and I think dogs have a 6th sense about where they are going; it’s as though they know the vet is their destination vs. a joy ride.  For this visit, we borrowed our neighbor’s stock trailer so we could take all 4 at the same time. Fortunately, there is a gate inside the trailer so we were able to pair them up…they all get along but giving their heightened state of anxiety, we didn’t want to take any chances.

Loading Max was easy, he jumped right in thinking this was going to be an adventure. Next came Jack and Jill – they weren’t going anywhere – we literally had to lift each one up and put them in the trailer.  Last but not least, we had to load Jake by lifting him and putting him in…he wasn’t going anywhere either.  We got all of them loaded finally and started our journey and Max realized right away this was not an adventure – he started howling and whining and did this the entire trip. Once we arrived, he whimpered the entire time we were there; everyone else handled the trip pretty well.  Dr. Bonnie was able to give them their shots, worm medicine and even checked their anal glands and no one got angry.  In fact, the vet commented several times on how well-adjusted they all were – the kids were good – the parents were proud.

By-the-way, we had no trouble getting them out of the trailer when we returned home…sure glad we only have to do this once a year.

New Work: I have been busy with custom orders (which is a good thing) but it doesn’t leave me much time to add new items to my shop; I did get a few new rings made in between orders…

Christmas Countdown – I was included!

Need some last minute Christmas presents – check out my “Last Minute Christmas Sale”you will find some really good buys

We had such a nice day  yesterday – it was very, very cold and windy but the sun was out – nice day for a drive.  Jim and I drove to Branson to visit a couple who cut cabochons – they travel all over the U.S. selling their stones at gem shows.  Needless to say, I was like a kid in a candy store…I not only got to purchase some beautiful cabochons but Jim and I got to watch the entire process of taking a piece of rough stone thru to the finished product.  Jim has been very interested in learning how to cut cabs and this just whet his appetite.  I don’t have pictures yet of my new stones but I will soon – you will love them – I can’t wait to get to my bench and start creating with them.

The day even got better when we returned home.  There was an email waiting for me from “UnStrungSisters”.  For the month of December their blog posts have been counting down the days until Christmas – they have featured a different artist each day (kind of like their ‘wish list’).  Yesterday, my new adjustable ring (in my post yesterday) was their feature – you can read about it here - I was thrilled and very much appreciated their nice comments about both my shops.  A BIG SHOUT-OUT to Erin and Amy – Thank you!  I hope you will visit their Etsy shop for some gorgeous eye candy and their blog - give them both some lovin’!

Be sure to check out all the cute “Christmas Countdown” banners (like the one at the top of my blog) at www.WiddlyTinks.com
